Food enthusiasts enjoyed a cooking demonstration including WIBW’s Chef Alli and CommonGround Kansas volunteers Katie Sawyer and Karra James on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Hy-Vee in Manhattan, KS. Attendees not only learned tips to create a tasty and nutritious tailgating-themed meal but were also encouraged to bring their top food questions to the class to discuss with the people who grow their food – farmers.
Guests enjoyed an appetizer of Buffalo Chicken Dip, followed by Chipotle Sloppy Joes with Crunchy Coleslaw and Boy Scout Bacon Potato Skillet. To finish the meal, Chef Alli served Just-Kill-Me-Now S’mores Bars. After the cooking demonstration and dinner, the CommonGround Kansas volunteers answered questions from guests about food and farming.
