LaVell’s Breakfast Casserole

We were excited to see LaVell Winsor, CommonGround Kansas volunteer from Grantville, Kan., featured today as a guest on 13 News This Morning on WIBW. LaVell shared how to make her family’s favorite breakfast casserole while chatting about topics like food prices and family farms with Amanda Lanum and Chris Fisher.

Here’s the recipe!

Breakfast Casserole
  • 1 lb. sausage
  • 6 slices of bread
  • 1 c. shredded cheese
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 t. mustard
  • 1 t. salt
Brown sausage; drain and set aside. Beat eggs, milk, mustard, and salt. In a 9”x13” pan layer ingredients: sausage, bread, and cheese. Pour egg mixture over all. Let casserole set in refrigerator overnight.  Bake at 375 degrees for 45-60 minutes and center is firm. Serves 8-10. Optional additions – spinach, onions, mushrooms, or tomatoes.
